The USS Midway is one of the finest cutaways to date. Each of the interior compartments is beautifully detailed and the vast expanse of the hanger deck is exquisitely rendered. Built by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, the Midway was the lead ship of a class of what was originally a 45,000 ton design. Commissioned on September 10, 1945, the Midway became the first Aircraft Carrier to be named after a WWII battle. She was soon followed by the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and USS Coral Sea which completed the Midway class of carriers. Size: 22½" x 8½" Click here to learn more about wooden models.
