The M1A1 Abrams is the main battle tank (MBT) of the United States Army and Marine Corp. The M1 Abrams features the 1500 horsepower gas turbine engine, depleted uranium armor, and a 120 MM cannon. The M1 was the first main battle tank to have a gas turbine engine that can run any any available fuel from kerosene to cooking oil. Another innovation was storing the ammunition in a blowout compartment that channeled potentail blast of exploding ammunition away from the crew of four. At close to 70 tons, the Abrams' top speed is close to 41 MPH.
